AVSAR leadership received a call from the State Patrol Dispatch Center in regards to a male hiker who was suffering from extreme heat exhuastion/heat stroke. Teams were immediately activated and a request was put out for Helicopter assistance. Flight for Life’s LifeGuard4 out of Pueblo, CO came into action. LifeGuard4 took one AVSAR team member and the crew’s flight nurse immediately up to the patient’s location. The flight nurse immediately began treating the patient and the patient was taken to the hospital via Flight For Life.
Two additional truck teams were sent up Lake Como Rd to retrieve the patient’s hiking party and the AVSAR team member.
